Almost Zero Energy

Sustainability is probably the biggest macro trend. In about 10 years sustainability will be standard in all our designs. Then we’re used to it. Being sustainable is being responsible for the environment. You can see sustainability as a product that will be long-lasting. Or you can have a sustainable process, as in a development. It is good for the environment because it isn’t damaging or doesn’t use our important sources.

What is it

Here you see the largest color LED display in the world. It’s the a media wall in Beijing, a venue dedicated to digital media art.

GreenPix is a project applying sustainable and digital media technology to the wall of Xicui entertainment complex in Beijing.

Why it’s Cool

It contains the largest color LED display worldwide and the first photovoltaic system integrated into a glass curtain wall in China. Photovoltaic is a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radioation into direct current electricity.

The building performs as a self-sufficient organic system, collecting solar energy by day and using it to illuminate the screen when it is dark. The screen is mirroring a day’s climatic cycle during the night.

This is really a great example from sustainability. LED lights are better for the environment, and these don’t use electricity but use the nature to make some energy. This is an great green process.
